Why should I book a professional Makeup Artist?

Professionally applied makeup will help complete the look you spent so many months pulling together. Just a simple professional application that takes into consideration your unique features can have surprising effects. Together with a professional photographer, you will see amazing results in your photographs.

Be sure you to hire a Makeup Artist with experience in weddings because timing is everything on your wedding day. If your makeup runs late you will lose time with your photographer, your ceremony will be behind and you'll keep your guests waiting.

Why is going to a salon, makeup counter or doing my own makeup risky?

Having your wedding makeup done at a salon or makeup counter can cause delays and unnecessary stress. You are often one of many appointments and customers they have in a day, and Saturdays can be their busiest! Who is going to do your makeup? Do they have experience?

Salons and makeup counters can use non-camera-safe products - i.e. products that will cause issues such as "foundation flare" in your photographs. Even your own makeup products can cause these photographic issues.

This is one day you want to be perfect - why take the risk? Having a one-on-one appointment with me ensures you get the attention to detail and beautiful makeup application you deserve!

Do you have experience in working with my skin tone/type?

I work full time in the makeup industry - in doing so I am constantly presented with various skin tones and conditions. Whether you are dark, olive, oriental, or have skin concerns such as scars, redness, uneven skin tone or acne - I will be able to help you look radiant for your wedding. I am skilled in matching foundation exactly to your undertone. No ashy, cakey or pale foundations will be used! Please take a look at my portfolio to see my work.

Do you do wedding hair?

Having worked on weddings for ten years it is in my experience best to hire two separate people for hair and makeup.

It comes down to time management - you and your party will spend twice as long getting ready with only one person working and there is a high risk of running late or rushing to finish on time. There is nothing worse than a rushed hairstyle or makeup that won't last the day, and wouldn't you want to spend that extra time with your family and friends?

The majority of people who do both are not licensed hair stylists or experienced makeup artists. We all have our strength - my strength is in makeup and my aim is to offer the best service and expertise to all my clients.

Who can receive makeup services?

Services are available to the whole bridal party and more; bridesmaids, maids of honour, mothers, grandmothers, juniors, flower girls and guests.

Male grooming is also available and is highly recommended for the groom and groomsmen to help discreetly cover imperfections and control shine for photographs.

How long does a makeup application take?

Please allow 45 minutes for the bride and 30 minutes application time for each female adult. For juniors and groom/groomsmen allow a minimum 20 minutes.

To avoid timing issues please allow the minimum, plus extra time to get dressed, take photographs and get to your ceremony on time.

Do you provide Trial Consultations?

Yes - trials are recommended, but are not required. This is where you can meet with me to discuss your preferences for makeup on your wedding day. I will apply a complete makeup for you and take notes so the look can be recreated on your wedding day.

Consultations are provided at your home. 1 hour service, day, time and location conditions apply. Visit the pricing page for rates.

Tips for trials:

  • Collect a few magazine pictures of makeup styles you like, keeping in mind your colouring and features. Think about what you like and don't like about the makeup in your reference picture.
  • Have clean makeup free skin. Wear a top in a similar colour to your wedding dress.
  • Keep it intimate - one on one consultations work best. This allows us to work together on your desired look.
  • Bear in mind snapshot photos are not an accurate representation of your makeup colours, style or finish. Professional photographers have lighting expertise that capture you and your makeup looking their best.

Will my makeup last all day?

Professionally applied makeup will last the duration of your wedding day with proper care. Quality products are always used and steps are taken to ensure your makeup lasts. I will also provide you with a Guide I put together containing tips on how to start a good skin care routine leading up to the wedding day, as well as tips for wedding day touch-ups and a list of must-haves.

I give every bride a complimentary Touch-Up Lipstick Kit for her wedding day. Others in your bridal party may purchase these for a small additional fee.
